Valis: Legend of a Phantasm Solider is a series of hack and slash platform games released between 1986 and 1993, across a series of platforms. It was adapted into a four volume manga series that ran in Comic Valkyrie, ending in March of 2012. On or around the release of the first game in the series on the Famicom, a 3-minute promotional anime was created to advertise the game. More than a commercial, less than a special, the piece tells a highly abbreviated version of the game's story (spoiling its biggest twist!).
