In the world of Utsushiyo (reality), the development of an electronic brain far, far away and long ago allows two different worlds to overlap.
Within the last vestiges of Japan's raw landscape lies a small rural town. In it live three middle school students: Komori Tarou, Oogami Makoto, and Nakajima Masayuki. Each one of them has a unique past that cannot be erased.
Via different ways, these three learn that by the extraction of ones soul from the body, the coming and going between reality and Kakuriyo (hidden world) is possible. During the boys' adventures in Kakuriyo, they come to understand how the two worlds are connected.
