In 2054, mankind suddenly entered a war with a mysterious alien race which suddenly attacked Earth. The United Nations reorganized the army to oppose them and to defend the earth, and named it as "The first encounter action". In 2059, the invasion was still going on. A special unit called Funeral was set up to actively combat these aliens. This anime centers around; Takuto Kaneshiro, a scientist who had his life ruined by one of the aliens, and Harriet Bartholomew, a innocent 13-year old girl with a strange link to a seemingly friendly Alien named EX-1 (aka Frank). Note: There are 25 episodes of Argento Soma aired on television. Episode 24.5 (Phase EX: Solitary) was released as a single OVA (on March 2002)
