On beautiful Prince Edward Island in Canada, the orphan Anne Shirley is mistakenly sent to Green Gables, home of Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, where she is adopted by them despite the misunderstanding. They initially don't know what to do, but as they are won over by Anne's imagination, their family bond deepens.
