Shokugeki no Soma OVA (Complete)

Saved on 2018-01-11 22:10:08. This copy includes the description and comments available at capture.

Description

So, as season 3 just started, I decided to watch all the OVA episodes. But unfortunately, most of them had bad subs and OVA 4 had no subs at all.

Video: [UrbanTbc] 1024x576 (Episodes 1, 2, 4), 1280x720 (episode 3)
Audio: AAC (Episodes 1, 2, 4), FLAC (episode 3)
Subtitles: Episode 1: Fixed wrong sentence order, fixed timing, removed unnecesary TL notes, fixed words here and there.
Episode 2-3: Barely any changes.
Episode 4: Subbed this myself, as there wasn't any english sub available for a long time. I think it should be good. (mega link separately https://mega.nz/#!QVYBjZIb!jhqj1F_8lMbGLt1eGvp7Ye5rARKR_oU3YQSJRwpQBQI )

Episode 4 weren't that great but it'll do, especially considering IT IS NECESSARY BEFORE WATCHING S3 AND IS CANON

These OVA 4 subs are horrendous which is sort of odd because while the English in your description is somewhat decent, the “English" in the subtitles you pulled out of your ass is pants on head retarded. Not to mention the share raw you decided to go with looks appallingly bad.

Thanks Asakura, but your sub had major TL and grammatical errors. The one which bugs the hell out of me was your “tea so sweet” translation. I mean even if you don’t know Japanese, with common sense you would know it can’t be right…

Ah, I was waiting for the comments like this. You all talk like you could sub it right away, but the fact that it wasn't done in 2 month shows it. Please note, i did it only because there were none other, not because I'm skilled funsubber and my subs are best of all. Don't like it, don't watch it.

P.S. This may sound salty, but I honestly don't care

@Asakura I think we can all appreciate the effort put on translating, scanlating and fansubbing, but it's also important to deliver a polished "product" at the end. I've been motivated to leave you this comment because you wrote that, given there no other translation for the OVA, you fansubbed it. I think that's precisely why a good fansub is needed: with no other release to turn to, yours becomes the one source we have. It'll unfortunately show if there are grammar mistakes, and in the case of mistranslations, viewers will get wrong references and info regarding the plot or the characters.

@Scyllia That is, if I hadn't other things to do besides fansubbing. If I wanted, maybe I could fix any grammar mistakes and mistranslations, but I don't have such time. And I don't think the translations are so bad that you would understand something completely different from it.

@DmonHiro Dude, I made this in like 4 hours total, and that time went mostly to timing and such. If I had time to check grammar, it would be better, but do I care? I don't, because I'm not a fansubber, I just shared this for those who don't understand japanese at all.

Then why bother if you're not going to care about it? Especially when English subs were already available.

I couldn't find that no matter how I searched (I searched only with keyword "ova" so naturally OAD wouldn't come out). I only discovered that other version after I posted this. Trust me, if I had found it, I wouldn't have done it.

Thanks Asakura. As you can see from number of seeders and leechers people appreciate it so leave those few haters alone. They won't be satisfied with anything. I'm observing this for a few years and they hate literally everyone. They're so knowledgeable they could easily done it in 5 min but for some reason they put all theirs effort in writing "hating" comments.

People care about accurate translations AXZ but for some 75% accuracy is enough while some won't be satisfied (like you) with 100% accuracy (I'm not talking about this torrent). And in some cases for people not knowing japanese any subs are better than no subs at all.

After watching so many episodes there's one conclusion (about haters). You don't like anime and you're not interested in helping anime community in any way. You have just found a place to unstressed yourself cause there's almost no censorship here and you think you can offend everyone without a care. Why you're not watching raws? Or with jap subtitles? There won't be any mistakes there while

-subs here are made by fans for free, not by pro's for money ( subs in HS releases are not that great btw).-

If you're writing such comments AXZ you force people to lower themselves to your level and you're surprised by it. It's not constructive or funny, it's pathetic.

@Gagantous. well thanks for the comment. But really, I don't mind the haters, I said what I intended to say.

@ Asakura
Me too & Good job.
PS
Subs from DmonHiro are big as hell, ripped from CR, no op/ed translation and he won't finish Amaama to Inazuma but you're not hating him. Why?
(Sorry DmonHiro, I really appreciate your work)

@Gagantous
Are you an idiot?! Comparing someone who put hours and hours for years, subbing, encoding and uploading BD and quality stuff with someone who just subbed an episode because he felt like it and he doesn't care what others think (I'm sure he does, even If he says he doesn't).
But thanks again Asakura, I'm not belittling your work. It certainly isnt a work of quality, but the only option for those who want subbed stuff since they don't understand Japanese.

Wow people need to chill. I watched Asakura's Ni No Sara 02 on kissanime and didn't really find a problem with reading it. Compaing that to the other sub that is out, this one is my preference as this release has been edited way better. Other release's font is huge and timing needs some work. Can't judge the translation on either as I don't know japanese.

Don't know if this is worth mentioning but I am a native english speaker so even if there were some (minor) errors my brain just corrects it before I even or notice it.

@Tehe I didn't say I don't care what other think (well, not that I care too much), I just didn't care about the quality of translation. I didn't say it's perfect work of art anyway.

@vongdong
Grammatically, not so much, but TL-wise…
@Asakura
I mean even if you dont care about quality, seriously TL check wouldn't consume as much time as timing...

@vondong, Actually, that video on kissanime is not done by me :D I think it's other one linked here.

@Tehe. which would be 3-4 hours and I didn’t want spend that time on it honestly (work on 10-7 job and you will understand)

This is no good, take your work more seriously Asakura! oh wait, no one is paying you to do this :|

PS; quality fansubs are dead with few minor exceptions, >comment section pretty damn ironic

@pancrack that should be common sence, tbh. And yes, most are direct cr rips or edits, no actual fansubbing.

but seriously, why bother doing something if you dont want it to represent your best. your effort translates to this to me. im sorry boss, i only completed 75% of the job can i still get paid?

~lol!!

You said you fixed the timing in episode 1? Odd, since there were multiple moments where 3+ lines of dialogue flashed on the screen too quickly to read, or where large chunks of dialogue had no subtitles to go with it at all.
