[Orphan] Wanpaku Ouji no Orochi Taiji (BD 1920 x 804)

Orphan is really pleased to present a full HD version of Toei's 1963 feature-length cartoon Wanpaku Ouji no Orochi Taiji (The Mischievous Prince and the Great Serpent). The movie tells the story of Susanoo, the headstrong and impetuous son of Japan's founding gods, and his quest to find his mother after she "passes on." After visiting the realms of his brother the Moon god and his sister the Sun goddess, and getting into trouble wherever he goes, he ends up in Izumo Province. There he meets and falls in love with Princess Kushinada, who is threatened by the monstrous eight-headed serpent, Yamata no Orochi. With just his two companions, Akahana the rabbit and Titanbo the giant, and a conveniently available flying horse, Susanoo must battle the great serpent to save his lady love.

This is the best of the early Toei films. Encoded from a Japanese Blu-ray. For more information, see this blog entry.
