Screenshots look very compressed, but it is down to 600mb from 3GB.

I mean, it's AnimeTime. They're banned releases basically everywhere cause the quality is bad lol

i wonder why DVDrips are still used even though a lot of BD releases are available. maybe someone can shed a light on this matter

@tdsii SoM used the DVD cause it the best version out the BD even the 4:3 one are all really bad the 4:3 BD is still cropped

Thanks for making this @Sff.

Also, what do you guys think about that 40th Release that's being done by another group? It looks very hi-res and has grain, too.

@SylentEcho it will depend on Simmsy he covers Dragon Ball related content you would have to ask him in the discord group

I watched that AI HD Upscale on my TV and it looked awful, too bright and too many details were sacrificed. I can't believe people like that, then again there's people who think FUNImation's crappy 4:3/16:9 are great so... Smh.

@sff

Ryujin's DBZ AI HD Upscale release, in order to get all 291 episodes people need to go to their Discord, get the donation link, and then they're given the privilege to download it.

Nah... Just go with SoM's superior release.

@tdsii
The official Blu-Rays that FUNimation did over a decade ago & in 2019 are both terrible in visual quality. There's videos you can look up that show comparisons, but they used a really aggressive DVNR process that scrubs away details in the hopes of eliminating as much grain as possible, not helped by the fact that they had a duplicated print to work with rather than the 1st gen film Toei has. Not to mention their color correction is really shit, as it doesn't match the original animation cels or older releases (or Kai as a more modern comparison), they're overly saturated, & the brightness was cranked up WAY too damn high so your eyes hurt when watching the episodes. The Dragon Boxes, due to being mastered from Toei's film prints, retain more detail, they just needed white balance adjustments & a restoring of the original color pallet. Toei could easily do this themselves, but they don't wanna spend the time or money to do it for some reason.

@Impakt I mean, it's a compressing down of the episodes that were 480p using .265. It's not gonna be great, but it's still better than anything FUNi's done since 2007.

@SylentEcho Spoke to Simmsy he said the AI upscale is not worth it and he will not never use it.

@Everyone Update he said the Color corrected Movies should be done soon.

Really think the target should've been 300GB, at about 1GB per episode. As it is this is a very blocky encode.

@ MistaL Agreed.

I guess to watch on a phone or tablet it's fine, but anything bigger this is just unsuitable.

@MistaL @Impakt 1GB per episode is not really saving space the encoder has watched some of his own encode on a big TV and so have others most have said it still looks good at the smaller size

While it's not as bad as the screenshots are, I'd say this release is serviceable to watch on a 43" screen. Of course, SoM's release is far nicer.

Watched it on a 43" and 48" (Sony Bravia that costs around $1700) and it does the job, certainly better than viewing FUNimation's crappy remasters or Ryujin's AI remaster.

@sff >1GB per episode is not really saving space
How is it not saving space? That'd be about a quarter of the original size.

@MistaL he would of gone 1GB per episode but not everyone has space for GB sized episodes
