Description
What is this?
The CR release of this show has a nice script but it has weird technical issues-- Everything is timed to the dub audio and the script is full of linebreaks.
Also, all of the signs are hardsubbed. There are some seriously cool signs that only an official publisher would be able to do (the title cards/location names) and straight up Arial-with-stroke signs.
The script is fully retimed and lightly edited. Here's a script comparison. The diff doesn't include all of the strange linebreaks that were removed.
All of the Arial signs were dehardsubbed, and the important ones were recreated in ASS.
We also included the dub and a signs track if that's what you're into.
For this episode, we spliced in the dub audio for the one English part because its lines are better. The track is FLAC to avoid putting it through a second lossy encode. The original audio is still available as an alternate track.
We're planning to keep up with this show as long as CR's timing is distractingly bad.

aren't both tracks the same bitrate/sample rate/etc.? if so, you can probably just splice them together without re-encoding.

@herkz how do you do that? I thought you couldn’t do lossless splicing of a lossy audio source
@Animorphs you can concat lossy audio with for example ffmpeg or mkvmerge but you're at the mercy of the audio frame length which in the case of CR AAC is ~21ms so if you need more accurate cuts than that, like cutting off 10ms from the middle, then you have to do lossy->lossless
yeah, just append them with mkvmerge or whatever. it might be slightly off, but it shouldn't be noticeable in this case.
