No issues were reported on the episode 001-008 v0 release, if you already have those you can rename and do a force recheck. Remaining FRBD episodes will be released as each bd volume is released.

FRBD episodes have a few hundred frames more than SoM. Therefore, audio and subs were synced using sushi net. We prioritized timing the subtitles with the Japanese audio tracks extensively. If there are any specific instances where the timing seems off, we encourage you to let us know. In a frame by frame analysis of multiple episodes we noticed that some subtitle sentences could be off by one to two frames. On the previous test release, we received no feedback regarding subs.

Q: Is it better than SoM's color correction?
A: Personal preference. SoM did and continue to do awesome work.

Q: Subs are sometimes off by 1 or 2 frames compared to SoM
A: FRBD is few seconds longer than SoM and includes few hundred frames more per episode so the subs were re-synced to match FRBD

Q: There are comments(s) on the FRBD release that JPN audio on the FRBD is not perfectly timed
A: We used JPN tracks to time a lot. In theory there is FR audio as well, but there is no feedback at all regarding it.

Q: Why did you only do 68 episodes?
A: Because that's what AB Video released. Once they release more blu-ray volumes, we can encode them. There is no release date.

This encoder can't do it because AB Video has yet to release 069-153 or Boxes 2 and 3.

AB has been very quiet about it, but they've confirmed they're working on it. It's not like they're doing a Native HD remaster so the long wait is a bit disappointing. :/

There’s a potential that you misunderstood the description: if the episodes are hundreds of frames longer, the subs don’t sync at all, that’s why they were synced/timed to the FRBD episodes.

This looks absolutely fantastic. I’m not an encoder nerd but, as much as I appreciate their work, the colors and level of detail here seem superior to SoM’s release. Also, I’ve only watched Episode 1 so far, but there don’t to be any issues with the subtitle timings or alternative audio tracks. Thanks for this release!

28 episodes in - quality has been consistently AMAZING, with no noticed subtitle timing errors (Japanese audio/English subs). Some people seemed anxious about the fact that the encoder mentioned timings at all. For any regular folks deciding between this and SoM/iKaos's release, I would recommend just going with this one, though obviously grab an episode of each and compare. The details are crisp and beautiful, the COLORS are WONDERFUL, there's a healthy level of grain (added? idk how upscaling works but it's nice on the eyes either way), and the file sizes are actually manageable. Also, the French BDs apparently have the original broadcast audio.

Edit: Thought I'd paste in what SoM's description says about the French BD. As far as I understand it, SoM is basically endeavoring to offer what are essentially "master" versions of everything Dragon Ball, getting as close to the original material as possible. Obviously much respect, they created all the subtitles everyone uses, and I'm no expert:

While we would love to make a declarative statement, ultimately the answer comes down to subjective preference. The AB release has color grading and is “HD” (although still an upscale of the DBOX). However, it remains incomplete as of this writing. We believe that our color correction is more accurate, based on previous research mentioned in the Color Correction Process Document, and we have painstakingly labored to fix the most problematic episodes, in addition to all of the audio and sub benefits our release provides. We recommend you look at both releases and make a decision based on what works for you and your eyes.

So to be clear, my previous comment saying "the colors and level of detail here seem superior to SoM’s release" should probably be treated as ignorant and ignored, but I do think that most people would prefer this, and that this is close to what the final product would have been back then had they been mastering for HD.
