Description
This is the compressed version of my original 480p lossless rip of Dougram. I just took the original files and put them through handbrake to compress them, while doing so I have tried to keep as much detail as is possible so no cropping, no denoising and a decent bitrate for both the video and audio tracks. This is also a multi lingual release with English, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish subtitles
I understand that the file sizes are still pretty big by 480p video standards but just remember that this DVD release and all releases of Dougram to my knowledge are based on a tape master so there naturally will be a lot of video noise which will add to the file size but if I were to denoise the video it would lose a level of detail you would not be able to get back (which would also make creating this higher quality rip pointless) and if I kept the video bitrate too low then the video would turn into a pixelated mess.

Original lossless rip contained:
-720x480p video at ~6785kbps
-AC-3 stereo audio at 384kbps
-Chapter markers
-English, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish subtitles.
This new encode contains:
-720x480p video at 18 RF (~2545kbps)
-AC-3 stereo audio at 192kbps
-Chapter markers
-English, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish subtitles.
So these files are roughly a 3rd of the size of the original files and if the files are still too large then please just go download the Bereke Scrubs release.

I have included a bunch of different subtitle options, the Bereke Scrubs English subtitles are set as default however if you speak Portuguese, Russian, Spanish or just prefer the old X Nebula subs then you can go into VLC media player > Tools > Preferences > Subtitles / OSD > Enable subtitles > Preferred subtitle language and then in there you can type in a language code to set it as the default so "ENG" for Bereke Scrubs, "POR" for Portuguese, "RUS" for Russian, "SPA" for Spanish and "JPN" for X Nebula. - A little side note is that even though I was able to get all of these subtitles unfortunately I have never been able to find soft subs for a Portuguese or Russian release of the movie or Choro Q so those subs are auto translated.

At first, thank you sharing your work and passion for this series that doesn't get so much attention, while somehow I have the feeling it left a legacy.
I am not a big fan of Dougram, but I was expecting for this release.
Could the episodes have twice the video bit rate and full AC3 at 384 kbps, each one would have been around 700
800 MiB which is on par with OnDeed's standards, the full set peaking at 5060 GiB, which is not completely absurd for a total of 75 episodes, especially if there's no other release around of such a decent quality.So it makes me wonder why the hassle of making two releases, one remux encoded with MPEG2 and interlacing, and this one with a stripped down feeling to it (which could have been 10bit maybe also).
In this particular release (not in the lossless one made after) English subs are set as default, but also forced at the same time. My MPV player doesn't like this combo, so the subs that were supposed to show up automatically don't do so, and I have to set them up manually.
It may be a personal preference, but I appreciate when subs are resampled to resolution of the video. Not a big deal would say some, as "it works", but those who do so usually take time to watch out for other details.
@golgoth-13 Thank you for your feedback! I actually gave you a proper reply but apparently I typed to much and it wouldn't let me send it. The gist of what I said was I didn't see the point in making the files 2/3rd's of the size of the original files instead of 1/3rd like you suggested and that making it 10-bit is pointless since I never understood the point in encoding in 10-bit when the video itself doesn't really benefit from it. I am also sorry about the subs being forced on and not working properly for you (works 100% fine in VLC though) and honestly I am not entirely satisfied with this release myself for three main reasons:
I am never gonna do re-encode of this release and am instead just going to continue seeding the lossless 480i version since it's just the overall better version and the only version I wanted to upload in the first place.
