Isn't the h264 version always better anyway, at least in my comparisons I've never had the case otherwise (except for 2160p, because both seem crf and can reach almost identical file sizes). And btw, Amazon is fine for ep3, maybe worth checking out if it's better than fixed B-Global.

As for HEVC vs H.264 B-Global, HEVC seemingly has a much higher bitrate cap. I was comparing the 05 OP and had no idea which source was better overall (outside of the catastrophic VBV (?) glitches near the beginning). There are multiple scenes in the OP where HEVC has much less artifacting or where H.264 has detail wiped that HEVC preserved.

I don't think an encode of the H.264 rip would be able to beat the HEVC rip at the same filesize.
