the original release he took the subs from does so he must've removed them for some bizarre reason

i mean, if you made the release worse, people probably shouldn't download this. it's not like there's any TLC or anything.

The OP's not even in Japanese. It's not clear why foreign viewers should have a translation on-screen when Japanese viewers did not.
