What Is The Westwood Dub & Why It Takes So Long To Sync:

This dub only aired in international English speaking countries (UK, Canada, Netherlands etc.). It is a rare lost media that has been preserved by fans who recorded this from TV between 2001 to 2005. This dub will never have an official release on DVD due to being stuck in licensing hell. The Westwood dub was heavily edited for TV airing meaning that each episode has approx. 2 Minutes of cut content. This can be anywhere in the episode. It takes about 1 to 2 hours to sync one episode because of these cuts. We are doing this lengthy process per episode in order to preserve this dub, and to prevent it from being lost to time. Here is what the typical timeline looks like for a single episode:

BATCH Release / Fixed Episodes:

We started our Westwood Dub Remaster Project over a year ago on the 22/01/2021 with the release of the Trunks Saga. We have now finally completed the painstaking task of preserving this dub, and ensuring that it is as close to official release as possible. We did this by hand picking each audio source for every Recap, Episode & Next Episode Preview, and choosing to sync this audio to the best video source we have which is the Merge R1+R2 Dragon Box. A lot of time and effort went into syncing each and every episode, going over every cut, adding any special effects (like Motion Blur) and changes that were made to the footage to try and keep it true to the source as possible. Trust me when I say that a ridiculous amount of time has gone into ensuring that this is the most Definitive release of the Westwood dub that has ever been circulated online. If you want to relive your childhood then there is no better way! Thank you for being so patient with us & I really hope that this batch release meets your expectations.

This batch includes the Fusion and Kid Buu Sagas of the Westwood dub, which we did not release individually. However if you did download the individual sagas then you may want to replace the following 37 episodes marked with [V2] or [V3] which have fixes applied: 108-111, 113-121, 123-124, 126, 132, 135-137, 140-141, 144-145, 150-151, 154, 156, 160, 163-166, 173 & 273-274

Video:

The video for this release has been sourced from SoM's Merge R1+R2 Dragon Box. This has been synced to the best audio of any given episode of the dub. Merge Dragon Box retains as much detail as possible, ensuring that Dragon Ball Z can be viewed in its highest quality. You can read more about this version of Dragon Box here.

Audio:

This release serves to include the best recorded version of each episode synced to the best possible video that we have. The audio is sourced from the +500GB Westwood Blue Water Torrent. The sources are Hi-Fi and Stereo recordings, the best possible version of any given episode.
Our audio sources for an episode of the Westwood dub are: Robo4900, xodanox, DAGAME and as a last resort OceanDan93 (in order of quality).

Opening & Ending:

The Opening and Ending have been recreated for this release. The Opening features video sourced from The Rock The Dragon Set and UUE Movie 3 and Merge Dragon Box. The Ending is recreated with Merge Dragon Box video and recreated credits. They have been recreated by Enigmo and encoded by JySzE.

Title Cards:

English title cards for each episode have been sourced from Funi Singles by DBZimran and recreated by ManifestX.

welp I wont be able to download or seed this ill have to order me another 14TB drive to preserve this hope there will still be people seeding this so I can come back in a week and download this so I can relive everything & preserve

DVD Singles footage would be more suitable for these episodes . You know both of the sources are mostly from the same era despite the fact of the merge source being better .
I dislike the voices of this dub, but I can see why some of you might like them . Good job anyway .

@Star_Blade A few people will be having this in seedboxes for a long while so you don't have to worry.

@The-good_Man1994 DVD singles use the same video masters, but to sync them you would need to re-encode every single DVD which would be too time-consuming. The FUNi DVDs also have intense artifacts like rainbowing and every episode would need to be deinterlaced. The Dragon Box is far more convenient because the merge encodes are much easier to work with since it's already encoded in x264, and it's a higher quality source. And the things the video masters had exclusive to them is added to the merge like title cards, OPs, and EDs anyway

I just lost half these episodes on a failed hard drive, so this update came at a good time for me. I will need to wait until I get a new hard drive and backup some things before I download this. When I do I will be sure to seed.

You make a good point that the Singles DVDs would be more suitable. I imagine they would look more like how the Westwood dub video looked. I would have liked it that way. But all the points Venny makes are more important, and why not just use the best possible source for the video. Also, this is a “Remastered” release of the Westwood Dub, which is different than just an authentic looking reconstruction of the TV broadcast. Maybe if the R1+R2 Merge is color corrected one day it will be a good update for this if that isn’t too much work to apply those color changes to this video. Then I guess there would really be no reason to use the Singles DVDs.
