Beatrice's S3 is only a slight improvement over my encodes filtering-wise, unlike S2 which was a fairly large improvement (since my denoising was pretty destructive in some scenes).

Encoding-settings-wise, Beatrice's encodes naturally look significantly better.

I'm pretty sure most people are aware by now that Beatrice (and Kawaiika) are inconsistent, but that applies to most encoders (not just groups). You're always better off just comparing. That said, Jensen does have a tendency to use f3kdb settings that literally do not deband and only add grain, so there's that.

You know, when I make comparisons, I always get 10 randomly-selected frames so that no one can accuse me of cherry-picking and so that people can get a holistic view of what improvement might or might not exist. So let's take a look at 10 randomly selected frames from episode 1: https://slow.pics/c/wg8bMSly

From the comparison we can see that Beatrice looks better, but it's because of encoding settings rather than any snazzy filtering you did. So yes, I'm going to say that it's a slight filtering improvement.

Cherry picking doesn't change the fact that the frames in MTBB encode that Jensen comped with are just botched and simply unwatchable.
