Description

Here is my complete release of Food Wars. It features a BD encode of everything other than the OVAs sourced from the JPBDs and dual audio 24 bit FLAC as well.
The OVAs are CR webrips with 16 bit flac encoded from the PCM audio I took from the DVDs. I also resampled the subs to be the correct Colormatrix and resolution for this as well.
I included the dub and everything that has a dub track also has a signs and songs track but the dub is quite terrible so I really don't recommend watching it that way. Season 5 currently has no dub and with how poorly the season was received I don't think Sentai is in any hurry to get it out

The subs were sourced as follows:
S1: Datte13
S2: MK
S3: Foodgasm (AB release)
S4: Arid
S5: BluE
OVAs: Clara

Comparisons for each season are below (I excluded S5 because there are no encodes worth comping to afaik)

I think I caught any muxing issues that arose but if I missed any feel free to let me know either here or at my discord and ill make a patch after a week or two to make sure only one patch is needed
(found issues with the OVAs despite the resampling and shifting to match at the start. I'll try to get those fixed and get a patch with any other issues that may be here)

I honestly don't see much difference between this release and the release of VCB-studio in terms of quality, both look great.

Will there ever be english dub for OVA episodes?

Any update on the OVA patches to fix S01 OVA audio desync? :(

Some more issues I came across randomly QCing.

  • Season 4's chapters are kinda funky with it missing the ED section compared to Arid's release. Seemingly because there are two different edition entries in the chapter editor - top entry needs to be removed.
  • S01E22 JP audio is tagged as english.
  • S02E08 JP audio is tagged ja but named English. The EN audio is tagged en but named Japanese.
  • S02OVA1 is missing subbed dialogue after 21:20. Same with S02OVA2 but not as much missing, just the very end.
  • S02OVA1 is missing fonts (for OP styling).
  • S02OVA2 is missing some typesetting in the beginning title card, probably was just skipped over in the Clara/ToishY release.
  • S02OVA2 ED karaoke timing is off.
  • S03OVA1 is not using Asakura's subtitles from the Clara batch. Thus no TS, karaoke, or styling. Also missing chapters.
  • S03E20 has JP audio track muxed in twice - 3 audio tracks total.

Very basic and quick QC so not sure if any other episodes have issues, subtitle problems, or missing fonts.

  • S01OVA2 also missing some basic TS for the title card that OVA1 has.

For the audio desync if anyone cares and wants a temp fix, a rough check seems to make it watchable if you delay S01OVA1 audio by -450ms & subs by -100ms. S01OVA2 audio & subs by -450ms. Should probably be synced, retimed, and aligned properly though.

if I V2 this it will likely be with the S5 dub audio and all of the other stuff fixed. for the OVAs ill probably drop the fansubs and use the official subs since those seem to be the least screwed up

This release currently has no fix and with how poorly it was received I don't think Reza27 is in any hurry to get it out
