The subs should not be marked as Forced, that is for Signs/Songs tracks not full subtitles.

That wiki article is referencing subtitles not subtitle tracks within mkvs. It's all single language here so it shouldn't matter anyways except if you have your player configured in a particular manner.

Marking signs/songs as forced is the optimal way to do it so mpv with --subs-with-matching-audio=no can be used for dub releases.
