Mushoku Tensei, episode 2.

There is an alternate honorifics track in this release. Set your media player to play “enm” language tracks by default to automatically play honorifics tracks.

For those curious about the encode source, it's Funimation, with Wakanim spliced in only for high-bitrate parts.

Why don’t you us Wakanim for the entirety of the episode? Not worth it for the gain?

Wakanim denoises their encodes. So Funimation preserves the original grain better.

Wakanim's denoising also means that their encodes often look worse than Funimation despite being larger. The denoising causes banding, basically. Obviously, it's embarrassing for an encode that you pay $10 a season for to look worse than Funimation. But that's how it is.

Encoding isn't an important part of the prosubbing process anyway.

Getting paid means they'll actually approach their work with a certain degree of seriousness and at least try to maintain a standard.

Debanded wakanim is usually still better than funi overall. Just not for this show, since preserving the grain is important.

You're going to have to take the good with the bad for this show, I'm afraid. Best learn to let it roll off your back.

IMO the ecchi scenes, atleast the way this show has done them, help humanize the characters. I've never seen a show do erotic scenes in a non-uttterly-obnoxious way. As long as they're rarely used they're fine.

The writing is a lot better than the manga and the novel to be honest. The SJW trend will die out in 10 years, no one really cares about them anyway. The real useful volunteering is done mostly anonymously.

Normally, it should be a lot smaller, yeah. Not for this show, though. It's just a product of the heavy grain. Horimiya was also a funi reencode, and it was 600MB or something?

The point of the reencode here isn't to save filesize, it's to increase the quality of very high bitrate scenes by using a non-funi source.
