The UPDATED Westwood Dub + Blue Water Dub + Big Green Dub Broadcast Collection

Acquired from 2010-2020 from fans in the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Canada.

Whats New:

This is an update to the Previous Torrent. It has episodes properly split and organised thanks to the efforts of ZeroCool who split the files in the: DaGame5k OceanDan93 and xoxDanox folders and Wonder Inc who organised the files after splitting them to their respective episodes. A sync project can now be worked on by easily finding the corresponding episode from great sources like xoxDanoxo, DaGame5k or Robo4900. There are vaious different captures of each episode, so it is easy to search for another source that may have a RECAP or NEP that one source is missing. Also new HiFi and Stereo sources have been included thanks to ToonDude7 and lolman.

Backstory:

I began acquiring these dubs back in 2010, when I realised the version of Dragon Ball Z I grew up with wasn't the Funimation Dub. I joined the now defunct forum for Cartoon-World, and was able to preserve all of the TV-Rips posted by users like: tvmewmew, dbzforever2k7 (OceanDan93), DragoonClawNZ, OceanDubZ to name a few. These files are also within this collection, along with the credits to each user who originally helped to compile 'The Westwood Dub' over 10 years ago. Their efforts to compile a complete version of the Westwood dub inspired me to try and obtain as many sources of this dub to try and preserve it in its highest quality. I accessed defunct IRC Channels, had tapes sent to me from across the UK, bought several VHS to DVD Converters, along with patiently waiting for sources to send me their recordings 9 years after I initially enquired about them. It has been a long and exhaustive effort.

This is not a complete list, but mentions some of the best sources which are contained within this collection. The files contributed by these users are the best quality I have ever heard of these dubs, these are MUST HAVES for any fans of the Westwood dub.

  • These files can be found in the absolute GOLD MINE that is xoxDANoxo's folder found in Dragon Ball Z [Westwood Dub] [108-276].
  1. An incomplete version of Episode 71 of the Dragon Ball Blue Water Dub. Thanks to ToonDude7's contribution we have some of this episode. It is unfortunately missing the first 5 minutes or so, but its better than nothing.

Growing up I had the Blue Water dub of GT downloaded onto some DVDs I immediately uploaded these files in 2010, as at the time only a handful of Blue Water GT episodes were shared online. Then I realised that the Dragon Ball Blue Water Dub had an even fewer number of episodes online. So searching through a defunct IRC Channel hosted by AndyScot I was able to obtain most of the Blue Water dub, which I shared on Cartoon-World. However after over 10 YEARS I was still not able to source one COMPLETE episode of the Dragon Ball Blue Water Dub which is Episode 71.
My request is now to hand the work over to all of you. This collection is a culmination of all of my work, but it is still not complete. If you have recordings you are holding onto for whatever reason of the Westwood dub or the Blue Water Dubs then please share them out. I know a few people still have better sources than even these files found here. Once we have a complete collection of episodes which have the best quality audio we can begin a Remaster project, where we sync the best sourced audio for each episode to the DVD Footage for each respective episode. This way we will have successfully preserved the dubs and prevented them from being lost to time. In all honesty the episodes found within the folders of: xoxDANoxo, DaGame5k and Robo4900 are great sources to begin a Westwood Dub remaster. I hope this torrent helps to push more people to upload their recordings of these dubs.

This also has HOURS of CNX UK recordings with full continuity under "DBZimran VHS-RIPS From FACEBOOK [MIXED QUAL]" In the folder: "W.D FB [FB] [CNX UK TV RIPS]" There are also some Blue Water Dub Dragon Ball episodes in there from the General Blue to General Red Sagas (Episode 30+ aprox).

Also CARTOON-WORLD TV-RIPs [LQ TV-RIPS] THE OG COLLECTION was uploaded twice. You can delete one of the folders or uncheck it from download. Thanks

How wonderful to finally have this collection! As someone who partook in this journey, I feel a sense of fulfillment having the Canadian dubs preserved. I've talked to Brian Drummond about the legacy of this dub at the studio, and how disappointed they were when it switched to Texas/was never released. From that, I can assure all the actors involved would be relieved to hear their work is now available to all in such quality. The remaster is going to be a lengthy process moving forward, I bet, but we have the tools available now to make a killer product.

Available yes, but not legally. I'd happily support their physical media releases if they'd ever come out. However, this is definitely a good step considering how scarce high quality content of Blue Water and Westwood dubs are.

Thanks to whomever uploaded this. It's what I've been wanting to get as far as DB content goes these days.

FUNimation just doesn't have any interest left for releasing the Saban dub, Westwood dub or the Blue Water dubs. We we're lucky with RtD.

I Deleted FUNimation Bluray 1080p and kept Dragon Box (Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT) 480p

@kakarot If you are are torrenting Dragon Ball or any anime for that matter you better have the space for it. Hard drives are cheap. You can buy a 6 TB drive on sale for like 100 bucks or less on Amazon.

Some episodes have mono audio even though they're recorded in stereo. I wonder whether it's the broadcaster's problem or their original masters are only available in mono for some reason.

For anyone confused on what the best sources are here is a quick guide for the Westwood Dub of Dragon Ball Z

XOXDANOX - Episodes 108-167

DAGAMES5K - Episodes 168-276 (168-215 Under "Not 240p PCM" and 222-276 Under "240p PCM") (DAGAMES5K is missing 216-221. Just use OceanDan93 for those)

A lot of these file sizes are actually ridiculous for the low video quality. I now Dragon Ball fans are paranoid about video compression but this is over the top.

@boob This is a very important archive of over 10 years of work. None of it was encoded or compressed and that's a good thing. If you don't like it don't download it. You should be glad these dubs are being preserved AT ALL. Or just buy a bigger hard drive. You should have one if you are illegally downloading shows online anyway lol

There would be no discernible difference if the videos were 1/10'th the size because the recording quality is so low. I own a hard drive big enough, but I won't seed a torrent that's absurdly massive because OP didn't know what they were doing.

I'll be archiving this on my own terms, and if no one else bothers syncing it to a better video track I will.

Kind of only worth downloading the Blue Water dubs of DB/GT and the Westwood score, because, they're making very high quality Dbox releases with the Westwood dub. It truly sounds magnificent (only downloaded one episode just to check it out).

Anyone willing to seed this? I had to get rid of my collection from the previous torrent version because of space constraints for other things, and I never got the chance to snatch this before the seeders are gone.

@boob I disagree. By making these lossless, they've been future-proofed and ensured that the best quality has lasted all this while. A/V conversion has come a long way since the mid 2000s when I first saw these popping up on Cartoon World.
