Is there a reason the OP & ED are omitted randomly?

@ibfx: Anime studios do this very often. It allows for more story to be told instead of a repetitive OP and ED which takes up on average about 3 minutes of screen time. They also omit next episode previews pretty often as well for the same reason. Are you fairly new to watching anime?
