Audio: Original Japanese)
File Extension: MKV
1080p
Audio Track 1 (Default): Japanese AAC
Subtitle Track 1: (Default) English [Subtitle Source] (.ASS)
Subtitle Track 2: 日本 (.ASS)
I encoded these straight from the Blu-ray Discs, and i used x264 CRF 17. it takes me around 2 hours to encode each episode with this setting.
I'd like to thank Koayyy for translating all the recaps, and next episode previews which weren't in the VHS tapes. The recaps were limited on the tapes to only even numbered episodes. She also translate checked all the episodes I had released before, the ones on VHS. I did lots of quality check work on these. I also included the Japanese captions from the Netflix rips. I had to time shift them, plus I added the Japanese OP & ED lyrics, and episode titles as well.
The movies will be getting English translations. They'll be ready by the time i get to releasing Disc 6 (Episodes 43-46 + Films 1-3, Creditless OP & ED, TV Spots)
I will be releasing 1 Disc worth of episodes each week or so.
Enjoy!
Note: On a side note, I'd like to point out that there are some shots in the Blu-ray version that have worn out film. FYI, those were originally on the Blu-rays, and not my encoding.

NOOOOOOO i cant believe ur doing the blu ray thanks alot i dont know hw to thank u all.
so every week u will release 1 disc ? so we can see it all after 5 more weeks ?
Thank you!!
Do you plan on releasing a 720p ver?
Nope, don't plan on it, just 1080p. And yes to the Discs, 1 per week if nothing comes up.
why no flac for audio when you make wonderful encode crf17? i don't reproach anything but i mean your release could be perfect where an audio encode make it lossy
thank you, someone hevc this witch please !!
Thank you!
audios ......128kbps.....
Thank you very much my friend for the wonderful project without a doubt a magnificent job to see was worth
Muito obrigado meu amigo pelo projeto maravilhoso sem duvidas um trabalho magnifico de se ver valeu
Here's video/audio stats for episode 10 (original m2ts file) on disc 2 using MPC:

For the audio, I kept original channels and sample rate.
I was hoping someone would update this series to bluray since I saw the release for it available on amazon jp. Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! You are the real MVP.
Looking forward to the rest <3
The way you encoded this looks pretty ugly. Not only is the audio lossy, but video looks compressed. At this point just give us thee unencoded MKVs
Ok correction the screenshots make these encodes out to be worse than they actually are. I downloaded the episodes and they look way better in person. Only annoyance I have is the audio bit rate and resolution being 1920x1080 and not 1440x1080
Why 1920x1080? You're wasting space with the black bars. Anyway, thanks for subs.
I would've cropped out the black bars, but I felt if I did, I would screw it up. So crop out the black bars, and resize to 1440x1080?
Like I said before, those screenshots were of shots with worn out film. Not all of it is like that. I was told flac is useless and aac is way better, and someone showed me the difference.
Cropping it just saves a few MB's but I think it's preferable to crop them when they're left/right side. Up to the encoder if it's letterbox imo.
A lossy can never be better than lossless. Who ever told you it's better lied to you or has no clue what they're talking about.
qAAC 128 kbps Q64 (19.0 MB) vs qAAC cVBR 512 kbps (57.5 MB) settings

I don't think encoding the audio at 128 kbps is a good thing at all as a one size fits all. https://animetosho.org/file/dragon-quest-dai-no-daibouken-01-sub-bd.735296 Some episodes may require more bit rate just as a video would depending on scenes and to prevent banding.
At least 190-250+ kbps if your aim was to save space otherwise just better to max out the bit rate. Not only will you cover bit rate but also those who may have sound systems.
I told you, I didn't encode the audio down. It was already at 128kbps. I left the audio stuff original.
Thank you so much for this great effort!! The subs are amazing!!
Do you think it's possible to release OVA 1 soon? Because I am really dying to see that and can't wait until last disc is released T_T
Also, OVA 2 should be seen after episode 18
And OVA 3 should be seen after episode 38
:D Hope you can do special releases for that.
@tenshisubs, you kept the sample rate and the channel amount but the m2ts have raw audios in pcm and is 24 bitdepth,
Audio
ID : 4352 (0x1100)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : PCM
Format settings, Endianness : Big
Format settings, Sign : Signed
Muxing mode : Blu-ray
Codec ID : 128
Duration : 24mn 27s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 2 304 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : Front: L R
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 24 bits
Stream size : 403 MiB (9%)
bitrates 2304kbps, it's very lossy, flac for audio is the best, aac is like audio from actual tv (heavilly compressed) no matter if you used aac , if you give low bitrates, higher frequencies will be damaged
you keep effort to get a very nice video encode but it is waste by the poor audio ;(
I used meGUI to encode. I used x264 and chose crf 17, and slower settings. I've looked online flac vs aac, and it's a toss up. I guess it depends on the show.
Someone on a forum said
"I would not say the difference between FLAC and AAC 256Kbps is “easily audible” in all cases. Some people have better ears than others and some recordings are better than others. I am not surprised that they sound similar because they should.
AAC 256Kbps is not a bad format at all. I still have a bunch on my system and I very much enjoy listening to them."
I'm going to extract the PCM and convert to FLAC, and upload them here.
