How to play :
AV1 is a fairly new format and therefore has still playback and performance issues, especially with 10bit content.
It’s suggested to use MPV (https://mpv.io/) or the latest VLC Nightly (https://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win64/).
If VLC is lagging: Try increasing the “File caching (ms)” to e.g. 1000ms.
Mobile Devices or weaker CPU’s may have not enough power to play these files.
Performance improvements from the decoder are still work in progress.

TBH I don't know,
I used the target vmaf feature from av1an to get a high efficiency encode, I would expect to get files around 300MB with av1 using a CQ value of say 25, Keep in mind this is still super experimental.

Btw I'm still having trouble decoding some parts on my computer sporting a Threadripper 1920x;
Its smooth on my phone tho, dav1d is doing pretty well on ARM.
