To play such videos you need to use the included MPC-HC player and select Madvr as the video renderer. Madvr will automatically send the HDR metadata to your TV when it is HDR capable. Otherwise it will convert the video to SDR so you can watch it (with proper colors) on a normal monitor/TV.

yea, but you should increase brightness to 100% and change nit value in settings according to your monitor/TV capabilites

Currently watching on an SDR 1080p 8 bits/pixel (6+2) screen right now, using MPC with MadVR.
Is this maybe because I am watching HDR / Rec.2020 content on an SDR monitor? Or is this because of compression during encoding?
PS:
With regards to 10bit, I have played a lot of 10bit content in this monitor with no issues like this at all.
As to why I am watching a 2160p encode on a 1080p screen, this is because I have a 2160p 4K TV, yet I decided to watch this on my monitor beforehand.
