Great collection, thanks
Damn dude, nice timing!
@ASSASSINSUBS @Pajeet Enjoy!
Bruh. Monster is amazing. I'll grab this for sure
Make The Same Collection But With Lyrical Nanoha
@Wisperer Yeah, it's a must.
@MotherKitty2006 It's not my type, so probably not gonna do one for Lyrical Nanoha. Besides my queue is already too long.
Godlike work!! It's a crime how Monster and Rurouni Kenshin still haven't gotten any proper BD Remasters.
I don't know why still don't have them T___T
The one I got is from CBM from 2013.
https://nyaa.si/view/446133
This should be better than that release?
Anyways, thanks for this godlike work!!
@SomaHeir I think this is the best Monster encode out there, Enjoy!
Thanks! But why x265, 29.970 fps and no cropping?
@hdpc2015 You yourself shared x265 stuff and asking me why x265? -__-' I do x265 encodes only, for now. Kept the same FPS as that of source which is a reasonable thing to do. Now for cropping, I don't see a single thing that require cropping and I don't usually crop black bars but in this case video is 4:3 and there are no black bars, so I don't know which area you want to crop. There is sometimes a thin black border around the video but it's not static on each frame and if I set it to auto crop, it'll probably crop the video pixels too (in some cases). So, no cropping.
I'm not complaining about you using x265. I just wanted to know what led you to go the opposite of the ordinary
Dude, you wanted him to crop 4:3 to 16:9?
No, I was referring to the little black borders
@hdpc2015 I started using x265 because of the compression advantage but I aim for good quality and I think most of Anime encoders and other encoders now use x265.
SEV aims to keep the quality as close to the source as possible by keeping the compression close to 50% as you can see if most of my encodes.
how does this compare to figmentos or the encodes seicher raws started
@tonikaku Figrmentos release is already compressed a lot, so it's fine. I've compressed it upto only half the size and you can check the settings which most of encoders will say it's overkill but for me it's jus quality.
And I don't see a [Seicher-Raws] Monster encode on Nyaa, give me a link, I'll check it out. His other encodes are looking promising though.
i just looked at episode 44 for something and it appears like theres ghosting that isnt present in figmentos

i mean your encode looks to have better colors, and slightly less banding/arifcating but i dont like im seeing a new introduced issue.
this is the other version im talking about https://nyaa.si/view/1242075
and uh i just opened episode 5 of seicher and yours and the difference is night and day. theirs is a lot better.
@tonikaku Not able to open those images. Try some image hosting site.
"Difference of night and day" that's something I would like to see. Maybe Seicher used filters but filters don't work same on all of frames, so I avoid to ruin the encode.
Share the pics and let me see what are you talking about.
theres nothing wrong with those links
https://tinyurl.com/yaa9swfl
https://tinyurl.com/y98o94lz
@tonikaku I don't see what's better in theirs that makes you feel like night and day change. Their release have less quality/details, could be due to higher crf, more deblocking.
Looks like you like a washed up encode.
If you still think I missed something then feel free to explain the night and day difference.
...those two screenshots are figmentos and yours, not seicher
@tonikaku oK, my bad but still you shared the screens and told me that my encode is not good without giving out anything specific to indicate the problem.
Still you commented jus to correct me but you haven't answered anything that I've asked. If you're not going to do it then better to not waste my time as I haven't used any filters except deinterlacer at slower preset to keep as much quality as close the source possible.
i specifically told you the issue and gave you a screenshot as an example.
that deinterlacer sounds like the problem to me, i would guess that might cause the ghosting in this release.
the episode contents are 23.976 fps not 29.97.
only the credits are 29.97
@tonikaki First of all I don't know which ghosting are you talking about, I told you to specify.
Second, I've used QTGMC, probably the best deinterlacer out there and on slower with keeping the framerste same as source, I hope you know what it means.
MI shows the episodes are 29.9FPS, otherwise it would've been variable there. How did you concluded that?
I love this Anime, I encoded this at CRF 12.5 at slower + deinterlacer at slower. That's double slower,
The difference could be due to the usage of filters, there's no problem with my encode. It's not shadowing or anything, it's jus they probably used filters for their encodes whereas I did not.
I think that's why you're thinking that there's problem with my encodes. It's really something that you straight thought my encode is wrong. I don't use filters as they don't act same on all of the frames. There's always these kinds of problems with DVD. Seicher is trying to fix some issues too but I'm against using filters when their variety of frames which could go wrong with it.
do i seriously have to circle this shit for you https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/372584790337257473/705625325941555241/unknown.png
@tonikaku What's up with Figmentos' weird aspect ratio? The resolution is 648x478 instead of 640x480.
@Kira_SEV What are the subtitles? Are they the same as all the other releases?
@itzide probably the rescaling from 712 to deal with the black bars, the actual implementation isnt great
and to avoid any confusion, im not "shitting" on this torrent, my one thing is
"i dont like im seeing a new introduced issue."
and seicher probably wont finish monster for 10 million years
if kira wants to claim "ultimate edition" tho they should definitely not be doing this by just lowering the crf, they need to be clear on whats different to previously available versions. it seems like kira hasnt even compared their own encodes to others.
@tonikaku Yeah, constructive criticism is good. This is still the best batch out there, right?
@tonikaku Don’t get mad man. I’m currently hospitalised and trying to figure it out on a phone. That should be in the source if it’s in the frame over there.
By using of filters, deblock etc a lot of details are lost in the way so it’s not good idea to compare with those who have encoded it using filters. And tag for “Ultimate Edition” means different for everyone. Some like cleaned and colours edited version whereas I like to keep the original details and yeah I did compared my encode with CBM. Mine is better and it is the best x265 encode our there keeping the things close to source, nothing touched factor in mind. I jus don’t like to modify them as I’ve told you, filters don’t work same on each frame. SD content usually have a lot of problems in DVDs. Lower CRF and aq-strength usually erase few details, maybe that’s why it’s not in the encodes of others. Btw those fine line on the shirt are also there on the other screenshot so it was probably washed out with some filter.
@itsZide It is the best x265 encode of Monster but keep in mind that it’s not modified, kept as close to source as possible. And subs are from CBM release.
I’m glad tonikaku noticed something and pointed it out but he’s jus stuck the point that something is wrong with my encode because it’s not anywhere else. A lot of details a lost with those compressed encodes. At this high end settings, generation of an error like this have a very low chance and this is 480p, so even lower. The more slower the encodes are done, the better care is given to it.
That's a great encode. Congratulations! I have the original source (R2J DVDs) and it's identical. Your commitment to produce an encode as close as possible to the source is admirable. I wish more people could do the same. Thanks.
@tisurame Thanks for the support. SEV aims to produce an encode as close as possible to the source within limits of approx half the size of source.
Enjoy the release!
Next one will be "The Promised Neverland" BD encode Collection. It's ready but my seedbox crashes a lot of times and not able to upload it properly.
Probably will release this month.
Thank you sir I created Upscaled version of Monster OP in 4k using A.I Video Upscaling results are amazing. Here is a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6lzVM1I-Xc
I hope one day you will do Shigatsu with these sorts of standards of yours. God bless
@godlazyservant Enjoy!
Your 4K Upscale does look on clean scenes but not much good for grainy dark ones. Hoping AI upscale method will be improved with time.
As for "Shigatsu", I haven't watched it yet but I'll try to add it to my no-ending encoding list. :P
@Kira_SEV@tisurame hi where can i find the original source (R2J DVDs)
@IAbdulla17 It's on few private trackers.
@Kira_SEV thanks a lot! I was just planning on watching this.
@DroidFreak32 You're welcome. Enjoy!
Would it be possible for anyone to send me a md5sum / any other checksum of all 74 episode files? I would really appreciate it!
Few files I downloaded from my seedbox seem to be corrupted and I do not have SSH access to the seedbox.
(Can't rehash torrent on my laptop, I've already reorganized it and modified the filenames.)
As tonikaku has mentioned, the eps are 23.976 fps not 29.97(only the credits being 29.97), so there's 6 repeated frames per second. There's aliasing and ghosting present in this encode while both Figmentos and CBM don't have these issues.
@InfectedParadox I set the deinterlacer to give out same FPS that of source, so FPS should not be a problem in that and variable Frame rate, different for credits and episode content, that's kinda fucked up.
btw source MI is here https://pastebin.com/raw/qHuVXxwz says it's 29.970 fps.
Moreover this (http://imgbox.com/uyCircPc) is the kind of ghosting that I worry about. My encode have way more details than that of CBM and Figmentos. Only a few frames with very minor negligible ghosting could be left out.
We encoders can't encode each frame differently guys. We try our best to produce an overall good results. In case of DVDs, there're always deinterlacing issues as they're not good source to begin with and there're always some artifacts generated if you try to save other factors. In my case, I tried to provide an encoded as close as source as possible under my own set of output requirements. They used filters and I'm pretty sure a few parts of other encodes are also fucked up as mentioned by people in their comment sections. Everything can't be fixed.
Thanks!!
@Mizore Enjoy!
Afaik mediainfo does not mention if it's CFR or VFR unless you turn on advanced mode. I don't have any VFR content to test it with right now, but this show in particular does seem to be mixed 23.976/29.97.
Just a note, filtering isn't destructive to frames when done properly. Good encoders also scenefilter, they write separate chains for each scene so that no extra detail loss happens. It's okay if you choose not to filter and make more close to source encodes, but saying that filtering can cause others to fuck up their encodes is just wrong.
@SeaSmoke Looks like something I should try. Will try it in future on MONSTER or some other DVD.
