You listened and delivered. Thank you, I appreciate your work on here.
@Shinra : It's not my type to say that I'll do something, and then .. not do it x).. I've decided to wait around an hour after HS releases, to see if Erai releases it as well. If they do, I'll encode from them and if they're late on delivery, I'll proceed with HS as I have other things to do as well ^^" But here they were on time so.. ^^
Enjoy !
Please dont encode lossy audio to another lossy codec, dont touch the audio track and just leave it as is.
Thanks.
@Dark_Pride : No problem ! :p
@Sukeroku : OPUS is one of the things I can't change as my team, HR, uses it on all encodes :/ Though, it's widely supported and shouldn't affect your playback at all, so I don't see the issue with OPUS except on the paper (meaning : I don't notice any difference if I compare the original and the encoded version)
Its not about support, encoding lossy to lossy leads to quality loss. You won't see any reputable groups doing it
@Sukeroku The loss from AAC to OPUS using the same bitrate would be (roughly) around 5% clarity which would not deteriorate the audio in any kind that would be noticeable. As these releases are Team releases, I'll continue using OPUS (as it's the team standard), but I'll try to keep the original audio on my "solo" releases (https://nyaa.si/user/Minifreeza).
If the original AAC is a point you absolutely need, I'm sure you'll find some "reputable groups" to encode it for you.
Note : I'm not encoding to get the maximum followers possible on each release, my purpose in encoding is compression while keeping the approximate same quality. 5% deterioration on the audio is something I can deal with on my HR releases & the fact that I'm sharing these encodes is just so people can save on HDD storage.
Erai-raws:
Audio
ID : 2
Format : AAC LC
Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec Low Complexity
Codec ID : A_AAC-2
Duration : 23 min 57 s
Bit rate : 253 kb/s
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 43.4 MiB (3%)
Your Release:
Audio
ID : 2
Format : Opus
Codec ID : A_OPUS
Duration : 23 min 57 s
Bit rate : 253 kb/s
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 43.4 MiB (13%)
The stream size is 43.4 mb in both releases so no idea what compression you're talking about.
So essentially you managed to deteriorate the audio quality for no reason at all, HDD storage or otherwise.
Anyway, good luck to you.
@ HR-Minifreeza - keep up the good work and don't worry about the complaints from people who don't contribute. If they don't agree with your choices they can do it themselves or just move on. No need to justify your choices, just keep doing what is good for you.
@Sukeroku As you can read, I said "same bitrate". The audio encoding is not for compression, but to follow the Team standards.
The deterioration of the audio that you talk about is tiny, and not noticeable so I won't keep replying to that argument of yours.
Ciao, as italians say.
@Skychan Right !
There's lot of teams out there, so I'm happy to please the ones that enjoy my encodes, and the ones that don't, can search for better ones.
I'm not someone that can be bothered by criticism anyway, I know what I'm worth.
Thanks for your kind message <3 !
@HR-Minifreeza
The point is, you said the AAC > OPUS encoding was done for compression reasons, while it didn't save up space:
" [...] my purpose in encoding is compression while keeping the approximate same quality. [...] I’m sharing these encodes is just so people can save on HDD storage."
So:
Correct me if wrong
Also, "don’t worry about the complaints from people who don’t contribute", "they don’t agree with your choices they can do it themselves or just move on", " I’m sure you’ll find some reputable groups to encode it for you" are honestly pretty stupid arguments to what was fair and peaceful criticism.
@legarzon :
1/ 1.3-1.4GB to 200-300MB = saving data. I never stated that audio itself was saving any.
2/ My team uses OPUS, therefore I use it too. There is a small quality loss that is not perceivable so, as I got to use OPUS anyways, it's fine to me.
3/ I've heard the arguments about OPUS and replied to them, therefore I have nothing else to add, except this :
I propose encodes to you.
You like them = nice !
You don't like them, and your complaints have been heard and answered = deal with it or find better encodes than mine.
There's no need in forcing something that won't change, maybe if I were doing these encodes for myself, but I'm in a team so that's settled.
Info : Some "big" teams are also using OPUS and to lower bitrates (112kbps) if I'm not mistaken, which is far worse in terms of quality loss, you can go harass them instead, as far as I'm concerned, your criticism has been heard and answered so I'm moving on.
Everyone stop fighting for the audio quality; as long the audio is not broken and fine and the volume are right stop complaining.
if you have headphones dolby true HD atmos 5,000USD Price tag that i'm using the audio for this are fine very tiny difference the clicks and depth of the audio in the normal headphones sound so fine
Info : I talked to the Chief about this and decided (with his approval) to go with the Original codec, so the Audio from now on will be untouched.
@naiyas It's okay, now people should stop complaining ^^" Ty for the support <3
