Synopsis
Yukito Kunisaki is on a journey in search of the Winged Maiden who was bound to the sky centuries ago, after hearing an old childhood tale from his mother. As Yukito shows his puppet show to people in an attempt to make some money, he finds himself in a small town in which he did not expect to stay very long. However, when he meets an unusual girl named Misuzu, things take a drastic turn as he is invited to stay with her.

By staying in the quaint town, Yukito soon becomes friends with the locals. As he gets to know them better, he learns of their problems and decides to help, putting his search for the Winged Maiden on hold. With his search on hold, and his growing attachment to Misuzu and the small town, will Yukito ever find the Winged Maiden, or is she closer than he thought?

Not very good to leave it like that. Didn't even bother to apply anti-aliasing filter.
Dunno what program you using but even if its handbrake it should has some form of anti-aliasing otherwise if it doesn't it's a garbage program.

Also

Frame rate : 29.970

Should be 23.976 fps

Hope you reconsider and redo both AIR that you've shared. AIR in summer should be together with AIR and I think should be watched after episode 9 of AIR.

antialiasing isn't going to fix this, at least not by itself. this is artifacts from bad deinterlace + upscale from sd source.
unfortunately this is on the source and not the fault of the encoder.
haven't seen anyone put out an encode of this show that has managed to actually fix it.
but encoding this show to 1080p is just outright dumb given how poor the source is.
could probably produce a nice looking 540p though if the encoder is worth a grain of salt.

As a side-note, apparently parts of this show are actually 30fps, so there's no real shame in encoding it as such. Ideally you'd do a VFR encode, but it can be pretty hard and/or annoying to do so.

Going by what's written above source might of come from funimation which could explain why it looks the way it does.

I'm going by the comparisons done by Doki who did theirs using the Japanese BDMV's and @23.976 fps too.
Some images from them if its accurate from AnimeTosho https://animetosho.org/view/air-2005-doki-1280x720-hi10p-bd-flac.n946518

Since Prof is going for HEVC wouldn't be ideal for him to use Doki and slap the English dub and subs on it.

@noZA_
I have joseole99's dual-audio remux of Doki's release and it suffers the same shit seen in the screenshots here.

fwiw i know just sticking dealias everywhere wouldnt solve it but man there could have been some kind of effort lol. i just want this show to look good

@ChaoXide I'm having a hard time believing that since I believe Holo of Doki did these I believe and just going by the few images I provided above off AnimeTosho.
Also, joseole99’s release using Doki don't seem to be on here nor on BakaBT. Where can I find this without having to apply.

@RoakI agree. Hopefully Prof will consider looking at his next source and see if it requires some filters.

I downloaded the japanese blurays of this show and the aliasing is baked into the source-antialiasing isn't gonna do jack shit for it. I remember that the Air bluray boxset was among the very first anime blurays released in japan and Pony Canyon didn't really know how to upscale sd to hd.
