There's just the Season Sets other than this. And the 30A are basically a 4:3 AR, tweaked version with fake grain.

If the 30A were to get a standard release (not to mention they're in "Season" format) this would still be an improvement over the OB and SS. Yes, I know the OBs look technically better, but overall they're all mediocre.

Good luck with that. The artificial grain filters bloats the file size so badly that a x264 encode at this quality ends up larger than the raw episode file.

Just checked the art book and the cardboard boxes, and all that.

  • Artbook - Depressingly uninteresting and looks more like a bunch of scraps.
  • Cardboard Boxes - The artwork used looks actually really nice.
  • Discs - The disc art are almost like Dbox-like!

What a shame FUNimation ruined what could have been an amazing release.

I am sure they are going to release another anniversary box down the line and milk the fans once again and fans are going to buy it.

FUNi definitely will. This is really just a "Collector's" Edition of the Season Sets in 4:3 AR.

However, this release doesn't justify taking up that much space, considering the footage is still cropped and the "smooth edge-like" effects were added in to make it look remastered.

There are smaller encodes on this site if that's what you want, but nothing in that range. Whatever you think about how much space this set is worth, the artificial grain filter bloats the file size such that an encode at the file size you're looking for would be artifacted to hell and back. If you don't think it's worth the space, then just don't download it. There's no point at all in downloading an encode that poor. Also...

Even the Dragon Boxes are cropped. It depends on how much damage there is on the edges of the film. Some episodes in this remaster have more visible picture than their corresponding Dragon Box episodes.

Maybe a scene group or YIFY-like will make such rips. xD

Thanks for the hard work. This will be my definitive version when re-watching Dragon Ball Z on my larger TV. I still like the Dragon Box but it gets unwatchable sadly when watching it on anything over 50" Artificial grain or not this is very watchable and sharper.

@floodth3sky @cornbeatle I have been seeding this continuously. (45 TB and counting.) It's possible that you got throttled by your ISP after downloading so much. It's a big torrent.

When played on MPC-HC the subs aren't centered but moved a bit to the right...This doesn't happens to other releases like horriblesubs etc tho...

how can i crop the black bars left and right without losing any quality? i want it to be true 4:3 so i can switch to 16:9 if i should be in the mood.

So I decided to get this because I recently got unlimited cloud storage and bandwidth so I figured why not grab it, and I'm sooo glad I didn't buy the bluray set now.... The picture is really sharp and clear but the colors are way over saturated and the picture has a weird wobbly effect that gives me a headache watching it, which I believe is from them adding artificial grain to the the video. FUNimation was sooo close to giving us a good release, if they would have just left the footage untouched it would have been amazing... oh well, maybe we'll get a proper release in another 30 years.

@SSJBejito It is impossible to crop the video without encoding it. The best you can do is encode it to the highest quality possible. This release does all that for you.

No, it's 4:3 (sadly it's slightly cropped). I found an other release which isn't cropped, and weighs around 100 gigs.
Big minus is that there are no subs or dubs in your language. However, remuxing (adding) audio tracks is fairly easy (for example with mkvtoolnix).

Who cares for details, unless you have a 55 inch or higher tv, or you zoom in the screenshots million times in your laptop, which is ofcourse not way to watch anything if you're sane, and it's nothing more than details madness, you ain't gonna see those sacred senile "details" complains by ikaos/SoM memebers, lol. Color/ contrast are what important than any other aspect, contributes to overall visual experience than those shitty so called details that can be only seen if you're retarded and hold magnifying glass over your display and pause the video million times per 5 minutes of video, so that you can pretend to be a details detective, so if you don't give a fuck about the "mythical details", this is the way to watch DBZ, sure many will complain or cry that it's upscale, but it's not a straight DVD or dragon box upscale, it looks HD, has lot of improvements in color, art over dvds, which if it were dragon box upscale with the same or blown out colors, it would justify people crying over it by calling it a poor upscale.
This has the best colors of all DBZ releases, which makes it the definitive watchable release.

If you want something better than the cropped vomit boo kai for buu arc, but in Fullscreen, this is the version to watch.
