No, they're not. When I opened it, my media player recognized no subtitle tracks to choose from.

Recommend getting a non shitty media player then. works just fine with mpv.
if you want the subs standalone grab them from animetosho. they should be there

I stand corrected. The subs are present in mpv, although they're much too large.

The subs are in VTT format that neither VSFilter nor XYSubFilter recognize, you can't easily convert them either. The workaround is grabbing them via animetosho, browsing them with F3 in Total Commander and manually copypasting lines into the srt file.
