@ -___- This is my first ever encode and torrent. I'm not familiar with the pros/cons of HEVC. All I know is that picture quality is still pretty good compared to the remux. Funi destroyed any real detail when they overclocked their DNR filter on this image. It doesn't need to be in pristine quality because it's shit either way. I did a more than decent job at making this watchable while drastically reducing file size. If you would like to take a shot at it, go get the anonymous uploader's torrent containing jdcox's remux. I did the best I could for a first time job, and I did multiple tests that I showed to other people before committing to the settings I used. The reason I aimed for around 1 GB per episode is that the highest quality encodes I see on here usually are around 1 GB per episode. As a novice, I based my end goal around that.

If this was the level set, I would take a remux and use it as my main method of viewing. But it's not. It's the season sets back to 4:3. No real detail, nothing worth having a 2-4 GB file per episode for.

@ Slysoft: jdcox is an idiot for multiple reasons, not simply because he didn't include the US score in his encode. I'm not that petty.

Anyways, as I said above, anyone can get the other guy's torrent containing the remux and try. I'm just trying to help out by providing a decent copy of the 30th for those who want to watch it without reserving 1+ TB of free space for a shit quality release that had all of the grain scrubbed out (grain in this release is fake digital grain added after the DNR. Why? No one knows!)

@surume hevc actually does a pretty decent job of shrinking filesize, i just dont have anything that can dependably play them back, nothing worse than the video having a seizure halfway through the episode

@ MDSN : I appreciate the support, but let them do what they want. If they want to make fun of me, so be it. I did call jdcox215 an idiot, and I still stand by it on account of he originally uploaded his remux to a private tracker rather than share it with the DB community. Then there is his encode I don't like. So I am admittedly being a dick as well. I can take whatever some random asshat says to me for a torrent he isn't even going to download. lol. As for my encode, I did the best I could with my limited knowledge of encoding and a shit PC. At the end of the day, they get this or 1 TB of video that is still shit that they can then encode themselves. This 30th release is poor no matter what, so it isn't like it matters in the first place. If they don't like it, not my problem.

@ commanderj13: I didn't do any noise reduction. And the grain effects in this release are all fake. Funimation did a terrible DNR job to remove the grain, then for whatever reason decided to add a layer of fake grain on top. They did the same thing with Cowboy Bebop.

Seems pointless to have an argument over this awful release which really is just the Season Sets in 4:3 AR. The grain is fake that FUNimation applied to it.

@jdcox215 Screw you for privately sharing this. There are people who wanted this release for being in 4:3 and in HD. You should have released this to the entire community. For people who dislike my encode, your remux is up in its original form in another torrent. If I had the files still, I'd be seeding it just to spite you. For the record, a bunch of people got it off your gdrive a few weeks ago when someone was sharing the link on here. Even after you deleted it about a week ago, I was able to download files (and share them) because I had shared the remux and encode folders to my account. So I can still do it now too. Some people in the DB community want this so we will share it to them. It had 6,000 copies made. Not like we can go to the store and buy it, and we shouldn't since it's still DNR'd to shit because of Funi.

@ NobodysLoveMalus The remux is on the other torrent and the quality difference is noticable. The Whole Point of HD is to keep it as high as possible. Maybe the grain is fake but your torrent looks very different to the 1tb version. Should of just waited and do a better encode with higher quality. The fact the grain is barely noticable in your tottent means it's isnt as good as I can see more pixels and tearing.

@ commanderj13: As I said before, I initially showed test encodes to some people and they all thought this was fine. It is now that I have released this encode that people more knowledgeable on the subject have weighed in. I am aware of the mistakes I made with this encode, and again I apologize for it. The main reason I do not do another encode now is that I don't want to spend another 8+ days on another encode only to see someone else download the remux, make a better encode, and release it before I release a new encode that is higher quality than this one. Again, my PC is crap (in case the 8 days of encoding didn't tell you).

I apologize to everyone who wanted better. All I can say now is that perhaps someone who knows what he/she is doing and who also has a more powerful PC than I do can make a proper encode of this and put it up on Nyaa. For now, there are 27 people leeching this so there are some people interested in having this at all, even if it could be better. It also pisses off jdcox which is a great bonus for me as I think he's a prick for uploading this to a private tracker only. My main reason for releasing this encode was so people who wanted to enjoy this release (if that is possible considering what Funi did to it) can do so. It isn't like we can go to the store and pick up the series--it's a limited run of 6,000 copies. For now, people who want 4:3, Kikuchi or Faulconer, and no green tint or bullshit widescreen crop like Boo Kai got can download this and enjoy the show if they aren't too picky.

I might put up a torrent of jdcox's encode even though it's missing the dub score. I dunno yet. I'll wait until some people have this encode 100% downloaded. I intend to finish seeding this to a few people rather than leaving them at 90% or something forever.

@NobodysLoveMalus, you've done a good job with the encode. Although I'm a bit disappointed that this isn't in x265 but can't blame you for that, you tried your best as a fan of Dragon Ball to serve the community, and for that I as a fan am very thankful.

@jdcox215 I don't know why you didn't want to release this to the public, but I'm very thankful to @NobodysLoveMalus for this encode and the Anon guy who posted the original. I understand that you might want to reserve your releases for private trackers to boost your ratio and avoid leechers, but try to help the general public too once in a while. How about releasing this early on in the private trackers and then releasing it later (say a week or two) publicly so that the other fans and the community as a whole can benefit from it (just a suggestion from a fan who couldn't have gotten all this if it wasn't leaked).

PS: @NobodysLoveMalus I think the main reason for you hitting a gb per episode at CRF 26 is x264. Cause personally I tried to encode an episode using x265 (with audio at 128kbps and CRF at 22 if I remember it right) and it was 600-ish MBs... But then again the increased time and resources required for x265 is a trade-off I had to make. I'm going with the original for now specifically cause I'll be storing it on Cloud and space doesn't matter. Nevertheless thanks a ton for all the efforts you've put in and a good day to all who read this :)

I appreciate the kind words. What you said to jdcox is my exact line of thinking. The community wants it (some people anyway), so we should help out and share it, especially since it was such a limited release. Also, I see that the torrent for the remux lost its only seeder. If it stays this way, I'll buy a seedbox myself and seed the remux so anyone else who wants to make an encode of this can do it.

Well you should also listen to the request of the person who fucking paid $350 for this too.

@jdcox215: You don’t own these files. You illegally shared them online. Don’t act like you own this and are a victim of file sharing. You have no say in this. There are some people who want this despite the atrocities Funi committed to the image. The community should have this so I’m sharing it. And if the remux torrent doesn’t get its seeder back, I’ll make my own torrent and seed it myself until it’s in everyone who wants it’s hands.

@bankai: No problem. Once the remux is in the right peoples hands, someone is bound to make a better encode than I did. Hopefully by Christmas such a torrent will exist. One can hope.

EDIT: I see that an anonymous uploader has uploaded the BDMV on here. I kind of assume it's the same one you initially shared. Would I be correct in assuming that you aren't the one uploading this here? Just curious is all. No idea why someone would want the BDMV instead of a remux unless the remux seed is still shit.

What's the difference between the remux and BDMV?

Remux is just the episode files in .mkv format, while BDMV is the entire contents of the disc. If you have a BD burner, you could re-burn a BDMV to a BD and it'll play. Quality wise the episodes should be the same.
