Description

UKBD encode with dual audio, BD retail subs and all the extras. (This time with the show title spelt correctly on the folder and episodes.)

If you don't want to download the entire thing again just wack the episodes you already have into AdvancedRenamer or whatever renaming program you can find and replace my crappy spelling with the correct one.

If you're wondering why there's no SSA subs it's because I felt that the PGS subs are the absolute best experience possible, they already have lyrics in there and nice signs for the episode cards (the only signs in the series). So since this only includes the BDs untouched subs I highly recommend MPV or MPC-HC for playback since VLC will cause them to look squished.

10-bit really offers nothing over 8-bit other than an almost unnoticeable reduction in filesize and in regards of AAC, why would I use a lossy format over lossless? DTS-HD MA is much higher quality.

10-bit itself doesn't reduce the file-size, but it does allow for smaller sizes at the same quality level especially with (digital) anime. If you're seeing an unnoticeable reduction in size then it's because you didn't change your bitrate to account for the increased quality.

This is because of all the banding issues that arrive from having smooth color surfaces everywhere seen in anime. To fix banding in 8-bit encodes you generally have to use dithering, and since that is essentially noise to the encoder, preserving fine dither and not having the H.264 encoder introduce additional banding meant increasing the bitrate by a lot just to remove banding issues. Instead of passing 16-bit debanded video out to the encoder and dithering down to 8bit, you could simply encode the video at 10-bit and use those extra two bits to maintain smooth gradients without having to increase the bitrate considerably. It doesn't matter that most people do not have 10-bit displays, encoding 8-bit sources in 10-bit still allows us to to leave the dithering process out to people's media players, which allows for smaller 10-bit encodes.

I respect people keeping their audio in the source format, nothing wrong with it, so you can do what you like here. But a lot of people like AAC (with the Apple qAAC encoder) because it allows for audio that is transparent to most people at reasonable bitrates. The whole chase for lossless isn't a bad thing, but for people like me who have 18tb of anime every bit counts in saving space. Especially when the amount of lost detail isn't noticeable unless you're re-encoding or doing some audio engineering.
