Complete batch of the Gatchaman II TV series, in 1080p (encoded by jdcox215) and sourced from the Japanese TC Entertainment Blu-ray. English subtitles from HiDive (retimed by H94).

This release has a little bit of backstory behind it, so strap in, and hold onto your butts.

It all begins on December 20th, 2018, where I made a comment on a torrent for Urashiman released by Koten_Gars, suggesting that Gatchaman II and Fighter should be ripped from HiDive. I then joined the Discord, and suggested to Mr. Kimiko that the release of II should use the HiDive subs, but that I retime them to the BD. A few days after receiving the sub files, on December 25th, Kimiko uploaded 1080i BD raws for me to download so that I could work on the subs. On December 31st, the subs were fully synced to the BD, and I sent them to Kimiko’s way.

It’s the beginning of 2019, a little into the new year, and due to various mishaps, progress was at a standstill, until Kimiko was able to reacquire the raws through a contact. In March, the backup encoder, jdcox215, was able to convert the initially 1080i video to 1080p, in addition to muxing the subtitles into the files. Although a fair amount of progress was made, from March to early September, the files would remain on the Koten Gars Team Drive, untouched, being withheld from public access. This was due to Kimiko being unwilling to mux in the sub font, which is needed to display them correctly.

On September 6th, 2019, after several months of saying that “Koten Gars is dead” or “Koten Gars will shut down” and a few other melodramatic tantrums not too out of place in a trashy soap opera, Mr Kimiko announced that Koten Gars was shutting down on September 14th, including deleting the Discord server, and removing several torrents from Nyaa. In addition, the Google Drive, and various finished and unfinished projects that had yet to enter the public eye, would vanish as a result. Because of this, I decided to take matters into my own hands, so that hard work would not be going to waste, by downloading Gatchaman II off the drive and uploading by myself. After doing some checking, I have muxed in the fonts into the video files, labeling them as v2 for clarity sake. Contrary to Kimiko’s claim of “the sub work will kill me”, placing the fonts into the files only took a little over 24 hours.

So Mr. Kimiko pretty much had a mental breakdown? This guy is about to just flush some years of hard work down the drain over a temporary mood swing, and the fact that he won't let the rest of the team grab any of the files from the drive is just petty and messed up to be honest.

@DoktorWeiss Pretty much. To use a British phrase, Mr. Kimiko is essentially throwing out the baby with the bath water. He really should have not stretched himself thin by trying to cover too many different things, all the while listening to trolls instead of praise.

For example, I remember Koten mentioning about doing a v2 for Wotaku, but it never came about.

@Sts115 Don't have it, plus the video on here is a bit better due to being de-interlaced.

Sorry but the video can't be better, any encoding means loss of quality. Any modern card can de interlace by hardware, so...

That's very sad to hear.
Koten Gars and iAHD were my only favorites. Fortunately iAHD is back. Could anyone suggest me some accounts which release similar quality releases as iAHD and Koten Gars?

@SomaHeir Thanks for the suggestions but I already know these two. CTR doesn't release as often and you're right about Kametsu. It's dead. If only there were more like these guys.

@qual Don't know how to rip streams. :( Also, ADC had Tetsujin 28 but its not on any other trackers. :(

Why dose this release look so damn compressed, the grain disappears during movement shots, it's like a god damn youtube rip, why the hell did you compress it and not just keep it lossless?
