Description
Crest of the Stars: Recut
Crest of the Stars is a great work of science fiction, yet for me personally it has always had several issues in that its initial 3 episodes had really odd pacing issues. In addition I noticed that if watched uniterrupted by narration and intros/outros, the series flow much, MUCH better. So, there's the result of recutting the series into a singular movie with minimal losses towards narrative content.
- Length: 04:19:16
- Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 706x478 (58951:44215) 59.94fps 768kbps [V: h264 constrained baseline L3.1, yuv420p, 706x478, 768 kb/s]
- Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo 256kbps [A: SoundHandler (aac lc, 48000 Hz, stereo, 256 kb/s)]
- Audio: MP3 48000Hz mono 128kbps [A: mp3, 48000 Hz, mono, 128 kb/s]
- Audio: MP3 48000Hz stereo 256kbps [A: mp3, 48000 Hz, stereo, 256 kb/s]
What's inside:
- The recut with Japanese audio track
- Separate mp3 files for English and Russian dubs (easily caught by MPC HC)
Changes made to the episodes
- Episodes 1 and 2 recut for direct flow of events
- Significant amount of Jinto's monologues from episodes 1 to 3 are removed
- Most flashbacks are removed
- Only opening intro and final credits are left
- Minor reorders through the episodes for better pacing
- Episode opening narrations on barohn are removed
Additional notice
This recut was made for my personal viewings of CotS in order to aleviate things that bothered me personally when rewatching the series from time to time. It has clear editing issues, and it might not be up to personal taste of anyone but me. I am sharing this just because someone might happen to prefer the series to be repackaged the way I did it.

uh i do NOT recomend this to anyone who wants to get the full story. the intro and comments are ESSENTIAL to understanding the story and the characters. Editing it and cutting it is like making a Readers Digest version of a Shakespear Play...
sorry but it is a foolish and unworthy thing to do to one of the finest Science Fiction works in any media. There are Three seasons to follow, a Prequel Movie and a short 2 OVA final wrap up sort of. ..at least put CUT CONTENT into the title of this or the unwary will be deeply disappointed.
I disagree. Most of the information provided there is either spelled later in the episode or told in different episodes and can be compiled. They help, but if you pay attention you lose no info by removing them, and they do break the flow. Jinto's monologues that got removed are also summarised later or repeated in spoken form. Also, most changes are done in episodes 1-3. Episodes from 3 onward are pretty much untouched with minimal cutouts in final parts.
Mines?
@arvon2 All the interceptor mines launched are preserved intact =)
You the best.
@AdamEve I completely agree with AdamEve's comment. If you really want to enjoy this amazing anime, do NOT watch this cut version. Download kuchikirukia's version instead.
