They did a similar thing with Ao no exorcist completly changed the story in first season rushed it and followed the Manga in the new one like the first season never happened so it is possible they could do a diffrent version as well

The harem ending was implied so fucking much. Out of anime with a potential true harem ending without actually confirming it, this one is probably the most unambiguously one.
And I don't know the manga, but just this episodes laid the perfect groundwork for one.
We'll see.
