"Newspaper columnist Shiro Yamaoka and his rookie partner Yuko Kurita continue their research into writing “The Ultimate Menu,” a series of articles on gourmet food. After visiting the newly opened New Ginza Department Store with its multiple floors of groceries and restaurants, Yamaoka tactlessly insults its rich owner over selling bad vegetables. The owner pulls his advertisements from Tozai News in retaliation, causing Yamaoka some backlash at work.
