Description
This is my 10 bit HEVC / x265 reencode of OZC's 27.0 gb release of Planetes. AAC audio is untouched. Japanese audio and English subtitle track are default.
"Bonus Material" and Staff Commentary tracks are not included in this release.

Obviously there are some reductions in visual quality compared to the original in all my uploads, these screenshots should help you decide whether the reduction in quality is worth my far lower file sizes.

Synopsis
In 2075, space travel is no longer just a dream, but an everyday reality for mankind. Advancements in science and technology have led to the colonization of the moon, the commercialization of outer space, and the formation of large space corporations. Ai Tanabe, an upbeat woman whose interests lie in the cosmos, joins Technora Corporation as a member of their Debris Section, a department dedicated to the removal of dangerous space junk between the orbits of the Earth and Moon.
However, Ai soon discovers how unappreciated her job is. As the laughingstock of Technora, the Debris Section is severely understaffed, poorly funded, and is forced to use a dilapidated spaceship nicknamed the "Toy Box" for debris retrieval. Undeterred, Ai perseveres and gradually becomes acquainted with the strange personalities that make up the Debris Section's staff, such as the bumbling but good-natured chief clerk Philippe Myers; the mysterious and tight-lipped temp worker Edelgard Rivera; and the hotheaded and passionate Hachirouta Hoshino, who longs for a spaceship to call his own.
Planetes is an unconventional sci-fi series that portrays the vastness of space as a backdrop for the personal lives of ordinary people—people who may have been born on Earth, but whose hopes and dreams lie amongst the stars.

Very nice release to be honest, at this specific release i tried so much to see differences but i can't maybe somene else may see but my self i can't So i believe i should download this one and ditch my OZC 22GBs that i have for so many years!

The only places there are noticeable differences are scenes in space where there is a sort of grain in the black background which appears a bit blocky in the source too.

It downloads very slow at 15kb/s the most... i hope people will seed it...
That's because I'm the only seeder so far and I'm seeding every release I have ever made. Once there are a few core seeders it will be fine. (also ngl I've been playing loads of Apex Legends, so my net may have suffered a bit)

Thanks for uploading one of my favorite shows. I was hoping to find something a little better than the bonkai77 version.
@nevy I've used moozzi2 for loads of my other releases, but decided to use OZC's release in this specific instance. If I ever reexamine this show for release, I might go with moozzi2's, but I like how this came out as it is.
Hey, quick question. Is OZC's 1080p release drastically better in quality compared to A-S' 1080p release? I've had A-S' release of Planetes for years now, but I would definitely love to swap the files out with the best release available at a smaller file size with your HEVC re-encode since it looks exactly the same when compared to the OZC source.

I haven't seen A-S' release, so I can't say for sure, but I've kept a copy of OZC's release for the last 3 years and it's pretty damn good.
Thanks for this! IMO it's pretty much transparent relative to the BD source while giving you a 60% reduction in file size.

HEVC/x265 is better. But you need at least 2.5Mbit (5Mbit is almost overkill) to make it better.
