pikawaffle, you're kidding, right? In case you are actually asking that:

  1. Hardsubbing, by its very nature, degrades the video quality.
  2. Hardsubbing cannot be removed. That means any mistake would require a new encode.
  3. Hardsubbing cannot be modified. That means if the font, for example, is unreadable to someone, that's it.

yes, the problem is people can't take your subs and put them on better video when it becomes available

Ah, I see. I was aware that hardsubbing degrades video quality, but I was thinking that since the Chinese one was already hardsubbed in, there wouldn't be too much of a difference. The other points make sense though! Should I release one with softsubs?
