Voices of a Distant Star (2002) [DVD 480p Hi10P 5.1 AC3 dual-audio][kuchikirukia]

Been living under a rock, so please enlighten me, why DVD version?

This is an SD production and likewise, DVD is the best we have

SD production doesn't necessarily mean DVD is the best.
In the case of this movie, there is a BD release. It's an upscale but it might be better than DVD.

i've compared this dvdrip and the BDs. This is sharper and more accurate, although somewhat overexposed and noisy
Thanks Kuchirukia, which dvd was this? I may get a japanese dvd to see if i can't make a better rip

5 Centimeters Per Second: International Edition (Japanese Blu-ray release with pink case) includes Voices of a Distant Star as a bonus and so does Madman's Australian release of the film.
Maybe those releases are encoded in MPEG-4 AVC while being SD.
