Thanks for this. Any chance you could upload the DVD raws, or make a new encode using a different form of deinterlacing? YADIF leaves white dots all over the place.

My Handbrake was set to Decomb, not YADIF. I leave Handbrake pretty much default. I change the adaptive b frames to optimal,and use uneven multi hex for motion est. I did not see any loss of motion with the reference frames set at 18. Maybe that did something I don't know. Using 16 ran the episode size up to 500-600k without any difference to me. I watched all episodes all the way through, mostly to check the timing, but I did not notice any white spots.
If there are a lot of complaints about the video quality, I'll take any suggestions and do another encode.

Mixed feelings on this release.
It's very clearly superior to E-D's in many ways, most notably it's not over-cropped, retains more detail and dark scenes no longer look like blurry blotches of paint, but the deinterlacing definitively leaves a LOT to be desired. Artifacting is visible basically all the time.

Thanks very much for your comments. I'm taking EP1 3:30-4:30 and breaking it down frame by frame. I think it is a good sample. Opening pan, dark action scene, the house pan with the telephone wires, the scan of the house front panning across to the sign with text on the fence. I saw some ghosting and distortion too. I've changed the deinterlacing a couple of ways to see what works and I got some better visual results. I'm going to do a v2 on this in a day or so.. I think the series was really overlooked and I spent all kinds of time on the subs anyway. The DVDs have their own problems. I just don't know what to do with those terrible rolling credits at the end for example. They look just as bad on the 1GB files.

I released a V2 of this encode that is clearly better. It addresses the issue with interlacing. If you really liked this series, you should replace the files.
