900p isn't even native res for this anime. It's 720p according to both my testing and anibin.

??? Annoying? My dude, I was just asking a question because I thought the other guy actually knew what he was doing and I wanted to talk about encoding. In this torrent, I'm just informing Astral. And for the record, Junji Ito's native res /is/ actually 900p and so was Haikara so it made sense to do it. You don't seem to understand what people are saying and take it as an insult or something. Idk. I don't get it but people are allowed to have civil conversations and just talk in the comments, you know?

Listen, I don't care about native res and I do encode at whatever res I want to. Plus, I don't care if peoples prefer native res or not, or if peoples don't like 900p or any another res.
So you just do encode at native res and think it's the best way to make a good release? How about BD discs at 1080p? Why you don't talk to japaneses stop upscaling series in BD discs? If to you, just make sense if it to be at native res, so do them drop with 1080p or whatever upscale/downscale.

stop with the "native" res. There is no such thing. You keep doing the downscale-upscale test method and that is totally, completely inaccurate.
Disproof / fasification of the test:

• take a sold rectangle on a 1920x1080 canvas, thus its native res.
• downscale then upscale. Guess what your test shows? maybe a 9p native res.

I'm familiar with the actual animation production and assets of various resolution is used. Scans are often done in HIGHER than 1080p. I suggest people watch all the behind the scenes production footage of any and every extra where possible, even untranslated. You will then see what falsehood this native res meme is. Higher and sharp details are often intentionally softened / blurred to make your contrived test show a false "native" res.

Even the very early Naruto production shows, featured 540p character animations combined with backgrounds and objects of greater than 1080p ! This was actually back before their BD releases.

My mistake. I saw '2018春は高解像度アニメが多く1600x900クラスが当たり前になってきている中' on the Anibin post and assumed it was in reference to this anime in particular.
