Is this HDR or a poor HDR conversion? The colors look all washed out.
not far off from the original US blu-ray in terms of color actually lmao gits is a very grey film
I looked at screenshots of several different 1080p BD encodes and the colors are much better. Personally I'd rather watch those than this one from looking at the screenshots color wise.
The point being is this an HDR encode? If it is that will explain the washed out colors on a non HDR screen.
The title says HDR on the site this was taken from but it is not stated in the title here and it makes a big difference for those downloading it.

The image color is listed as 10-bit which implies HDR color gamut, but who knows if it was downgraded to SDR beforehand.
There is no definitive version of GITS. Due to the technical level of that era, GITS is a messy masterpiece. There are only two good versions of it; either UHD version or that old HDTV recording.
10-bit doesn't mean HDR, they've been using 10-bit for years (hello Hi10P). The BT.2020 color space though should indicate HDR as that is the flag needed by most 4K TV sets to recognize and treat it as HDR so the colors come out correctly, if you have everything needed to do so.
