Description

My original release demuxed the dub from Kemetsu's release and re-encode the 24-bit FLAC audio to 16-bit FLAC as it's a waste of space with no perceivable difference to the human ear (see: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/24bit-vs-16bit-the-myth-exploded.415361/ ). However I was informed that this show was produced at 1280x720, so in the spirit of debloating I have switched to using Ohys-Raws 1280x720 encode.

Video: .mkv, h264 8-bit 720p [Ohys-Raws]
Audio: Japanese (Default) 2.0 16-bit FLAC [Beatrice-Raws] (re-encoded to 16-bit)

Subtitles (Series):
Track 1: English Signs & Songs (.ASS)
Track 2 (Default): English Dialogue [blad761 (modified by kemetsu)] (.ASS)

Subtitles (Picture Drama):
(Default) English English Dialogue [supai] (.ASS)

Find me an alternative 1280x720 encode and I won't mind making another release. But as far as I could tell there's only a couple 1280x720 BD encodes. And I'm not about to make my own encode because I have no experience encoding animated material and only know the basics of vapoursynth.

if there's no good encodes, then any release you can make from them is gonna be worse than the upscaled 1080p releases, making your version pointless

seems to me like the correct course of action is to learn how to encode instead of putting out garbage releases

Tell that to Ohys. If their releases are so bad why are Moozi2 and Ohys-Raws releases allowed? If someone were to write a script for me to encode each episode with after I send them samples I'd be willing to do the encodes, but otherwise I'm not knowledgeable enough to be confident the encode is good especially with my poor eyesight (I have keratoconus).

oh, i think most people are well aware those two groups suck. just sucking isn't enough to get banned from this website, though.

If you consult the rules page, which I hope you've done before, you'll find that quality is not policed apart from ridiculously bad reencodes.

This release wasn't intended to be small for the sake of being small. It's debloated in the sense that I removed useless data such as using 16-bit FLAC instead of 24-bit because it only has useless white-noise. And it's 1280x720 because that's the native resolution the show was produced in. There's nothing to gain by going to 1920x1080 (apart from a better encode) or 24-bit FLAC. I don't view 16-bit FLAC as bloat since there's still something to be gained by using it instead of a lossy codec. I was on the fence about re-encoding the audio however 16-bit flac doesn't take up that much extra space. And while the same might be true for using 24-bit flac over 16-bit there's no perceivable difference in quality so it's useless.

just a minor detail for a BD release, really

I realize that but I was talking about the fact that there was nothing to gain by using a higher resolution when it's an upscale. Not the quality of the encode. If there was a better 1280x720 encode I would've used it.

You could also encode the BDMVs in 720p, that would be a better way IMHO.

I know, read my earlier replies.

You have the JP BDMVs? You can message me over at anidex if you want sample if you're fine with a different server frame program. If you got the US BDMV's you could just use the handrake's 720p.
