First off, the subs on the DVD rip aren't hard subs, they are soft, hard subs are baked in as part of the video, the subs provided here are not part of the video, therefor they are not hard subs.
Second off the subs themselves are HUGE by default, often times taking up like half of the screen, and there are many missing lines of text.
This release is awful, I hope one of the others are better.

Edit: Seems that the Subs on the "DVD" rip are from the Macross2012 LD release, just poorly transferred over.
