You must not have been here in 2014. Fansubbing is coming back. People are realizing that Crunchyroll/HS is pure trash, with translations that are more like original works than actual translations. Without fansubbing, anime is dead and we're essentially back to the early 2000's era where your only option was to buy illegal DVDs with terrible Chinese auto-translate shitsubs from eBay.

It's a blessing to see FFF doing subs again. DameDesuYo and some other groups are still around too, and new groups, like Some-Stuffs, are also doing quality work.
