About the encode

The video itself is ingested, filtered (denoising, debanding, fixing artefacts, etc...) and encoded with AV1
using a tuned version of svt-av1. We do two passes adapting the CRF to each scene to best ensure a consistent level
of quality.

Audio is converted to Opus when lossless and given a good bitrate allowance making it transparent for any listeners.

Metadata like subtitle names, audio tracks, etc... Are fully cleaned and standardised so naming of tracks is
consistent across every encode, for Anime specifically, the Japanese tracks are enforced as the default with
full english subtitles being the default, we prioritise the official PGS subs over fansubs when available.
We keep one set of full fansubs, and one set of signs & songs fansubs when available.

Encoding Evaluation

The scores in the following table help evaluate the quality of the encode, and we use for quality checking
alongside manual review. CVVDP should be the main metric you consider since it is by far the most advanced
and stable across videos, so a 9.8 score on this video is going to have the same quality level as 9.8 on
another video.
